WINDHAM FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW ANNUAL LECTURE TO HONOR RETIRED PRESIDENT JOHN BRAMLEYInaugural Lecture featured Darby Bradley, former President of The Vermont Land TrustThank you to all who attended the first lecture to honor John Bramley on July 21, 2011 The Windham Foundation Board of Trustees announces the creation of an annual lecture series to be held in honor of recently retired Windham Foundation President and CEO John Bramley. The inaugural event which is free and open to the public will be held Thursday, July 21 at 6 pm at the Grafton Church and will feature Darby Bradley. Throughout Bramley's distinguished career as a Professor of Animal Sciences and Provost at the University of Vermont and more recently as CEO of The Windham Foundation, he has worked to assure that Vermonters can continue to make a living from the land, especially from farming. He has been an effective advocate for policies, programs and initiatives that support value-added agriculture and the production of local food. “John is a wise and important voice in discussions in land conservation,” said Windham Foundation Chairman Ed Zuccaro. “In recognition of his advocacy for Vermont's rural future, the trustees of the Windham Foundation have established the annual Bramley Lecture.”
The lecture precedes the annual Dean Mathey Society dinner at The Old Tavern at Grafton inn, which is an annual dinner for donors of the Windham Foundation. The public is welcome to attend the dinner, which includes a three-course meal, for $75 per person. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling the inn directly at 802-843-2231.

Darby Bradley, who will serve as the main
speaker at the inaugural lecture, is a leader in the land conservation
movement. His contributions to protecting Vermont's rural heritage and working
landscape spans more than three decades. Bradley served first as General
Counsel and then as President of The Vermont Land Trust. His talk will focus on
how land conservation and stewardship can work with both private and public
investment to revitalize rural economies and communities.
