Windham Foundation Sponsors 2009 Strolling of the Heifers Event

The Windham Foundation and two of its businesses are proud to once again be a part of the Strolling of the Heifers Celebration June 5-7, 2009. 

The Foundation is a Bronze sponsor of the event, and two of its business, Grafton Village Cheese & The Retreat Farm are very involved with the event which works to help promote sustainable agriculture and preserve family farms.

Friday, June 5

Grafton Village Cheese will sponsor the first-annual Great Vermont Grilled Cheese Cookoff.

The contest will culminate in a cook-off at The River Garden in downtown Brattleboro 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., when the winners will be determined, and prizes, including the highly coveted Vermont Grilled Cheese Golden Spatula, will be awarded.  This event is open to the public.

Grafton Cheese's master cheesemaker Scott Fletcher will serve as one of the lucky judges!

Saturday, June 6

Look for an official Grafton Cheese Float in the Strolling of the Heifers Parade, which starts at 10 a.m.

Look for the Vermont Cheese Pavilion at the Dairy Fest as Grafton Cheese provides delicious samples along with other wonderful Vermont Cheesemakers. 9 am - 3 pm.

Also, be sure to take the kids over to the Children's pavilion at Dairy Fest where the Retreat Farm will have its petting farm animals on display.

Sunday, June 7

Grafton Cheese and the Retreat Farm are listed on the official Strolling Farm Tour Map. Make a double stop - at our Specialty Cheese & Wine Shoppe and then next door to the Retreat Petting Farm.
