Windham Foundation Grants Program

Since its founding in 1963, the Windham Foundation has provided more than $10 million in grants to non-profit organizations to serve its mission of “promoting Vermont’s rural communities”. Particular emphasis is given to projects which enhance the unique qualities of Vermont's small town life, support its natural and working landscape, sustain Vermont's social, cultural and natural resources or preserve Vermont’s history and traditions while enhancing day-to-day community life. Grants are made to nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3)) with programs active in Vermont.

Grants are reviewed on a quarterly basis by The Grants Committee of the Board of Trustees. The committee recommendations are submitted to the Board for final approval at quarterly meetings. Although applications are reviewed quarterly, grant requests may be submitted at any time of the year.

The Windham Foundation has a new online Grant Application System.

All applications for the May 3, 2013 deadline (and all future deadlines) are required to be submitted electronically. We are very excited to introduce this new system to you and feel that it will greatly simplify the application process. We understand that this will be a transition for all of our grantees, and for us, and we will be available to answer your questions by phone or email.

Submit your grant application.
