Grants Windham Foundation Grants Program

Since its founding in 1963, the Windham Foundation has provided more than $10 million to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across Vermont. Through its Grants Program, the Foundation strives to enhance the unique nature of Vermont's small town lfe and open landscape and preserve Vermont's abundant social, cultural and natural resources.

Nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3)) with programs active in Vermont can apply for grants from the Windham Foundation. Guidelines and an application form can be found on this website. Funding will be considered for a variety of needs including operating support, special initiatives and capital projects.

The Foundation maintains a strong commitment to projects in the areas of social services, the environment, the arts and education. As an operating foundation in a small town, the Windham Foundation is also interested in historic preservation that enhances day-to-day community life.

Grants are not made to individuals. The Foundation is particularly interested in innovative ideas that can be sustained over time or that can be replicated in other parts of the state. Collaborative efforts, demonstrating broad community support and the ability to positively impact the quality of life within a community are highly encouraged. Ongoing support for operations is not normally funded.

All grants are reviewed on a quarterly basis by the Board of Trustees. Deadlines change annually. Grants must be prepared according to specific guidelines.

Please follow the link to use the online Grant Application Instructions. Because of the need for multiple copies and associated data, grants cannot be filed online.
